A Loss and Lessons Learned

Penguins 4 – Wild 1

Wild Lose

The Wild fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 last night, in an early season showdown between what some people think are the two best teams in hockey. I watched the game, and I learned a lot about last night’s Wild team. The 1st period was one where I watched, for the first time all season, a team successfully sustain a forecheck against the Wild. It was a chess match seeing who would make the first mistake. Minnesota made one, and the Pens capitalized.  I’m not mad at all.  This was a welcomed wake-up call. You can all take shots at me, but this team needed to be beaten bad so they can realize they have a long way to go. That being said, the Wild take to the road and head out East where there are plenty of points to be had. Parise suffered an upper-body injury– no specifics have been given.

Its a long season, and at 7-4, the Wild will be fine. This game is a reminder that you can’t take a night off and expect to win. Pretty good time to send it cause Buffalo comes to town in a little over a week. So everyone sit back and enjoy this hockey team. Don’t get worked up over the loss. One thing to look for on this upcoming road trip: new line combos especially with Parise hurt.
